Ms. Rachel Pledges to Match Macklemore's $1M Gaza Donation, and the Internet Is Split

Ms. Rachel is known for gentle songs and slow, careful speech, but this week she made one of the loudest moves of her career. The children’s entertainer announced she’ll match Macklemore’s one-million-dollar donation to Gaza aid and invited every wealthy white celebrity to match it and speak out against the genocide in Gaza. In her own words, she sees a moral obligation to use privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights.

The response was immediate and divided. BlazeTV host Allie Beth Stuckey accused Ms. Rachel of moral relativism, argued that progressive celebrities hyperfixate on one cause while ignoring other suffering, and criticized her content with Palestinian journalist Motaz Azaiza, whom Stuckey called a Hamas propagandist. Stuckey also pointed to Ms. Rachel’s use of nonbinary they/them in her videos and urged parents to find other educators.

What makes this story stick is the trust factor. Ms. Rachel’s whole appeal is that she feels safe and neutral for families, and that reputation is now tangled up in a polarizing political debate. Parents who’ve had her videos on repeat for years are suddenly asking whether the person teaching their toddler colors should also be shaping their worldview.

So we want to know: does a children’s entertainer’s activism change how you feel about their content? Sound off in the comments.
