Michelle Zauner, the voice behind Japanese Breakfast, just announced her second memoir.“Thank You For Your Suffering”arrives April 27, 2027, and it follows her 2021 bestseller“Crying in H Mart.”

The book covers the year Zauner spent living in Seoul with her husband and bandmate, Peter Bradley. She learned Korean to read a diary her late mother wrote, studying at Sogang University’s Korean Language Education Center. She also opens up about new friendships, Seoul’s underground music scene, time with her maternal aunt, and the strain the move put on her marriage.

Zauner’s last album with Japanese Breakfast,“For Melancholy Brunettes (&sad women),”dropped in March 2025, so this memoir announcement gives fans plenty to look forward to. It’s a story about grief, language, and the lengths we go to for family.

Are you planning to pick up“Thank You For Your Suffering”when it drops?
