Michael Douglas is finally telling the whole story. In his upcoming memoirOne Helluva Ride, the 82-year-old actor reveals that he and Kathleen Turner weren’t just playing lovers in 1984’sRomancing the Stone. They were actually together, even though Douglas was still married to Diandra Luker at the time. The two publicly denied the relationship for four decades.

According to Douglas, the affair ended when Luker visited the film set with their son Cameron and confronted Turner directly. Douglas returned to his marriage, Turner married Jay Weiss that same year, and both stars kept the secret locked away. Douglas writes that the lie was meant to protect his wife and son.

Douglas and Luker divorced in 2000, and he’s been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since. Turner and Weiss split in 2007. The memoir hits shelves Tuesday, October 6, and it’s already sparking conversations about whether past affairs belong in print. What do you think? Should celebrities share these secrets, or should some things stay private?
