Michael Douglas is spilling major details in his new memoir“One Helluva Ride,”and one revelation is getting all the attention. The actor says he refused to appear on David Letterman’s late-night show for eighteen straight years after Letterman aired a commercial filmed by Douglas’s late mother, Diana Dill, without warning and then questioned him about it on air. Douglas writes that it felt like the host was mocking his mom, and he called Letterman’s sense of humor“real nasty.”

Even personal apology letters from Letterman didn’t move him. Douglas says he simply said no, year after year. What finally changed his mind was his 2010 cancer diagnosis, which gave him a new perspective on old conflicts. He returned to the show, found Letterman sincere and sympathetic, and the two cleared the air. Douglas writes that it felt great, and that life is too short to hold on to feuds.

The memoir, released Tuesday, includes plenty of other personal stories too. But this one is sparking the biggest conversation, because almost everyone has someone they’ve stayed mad at longer than they’d like to admit. So we want to know: what’s the longest grudge you’ve ever held, and what finally ended it?
