Michael Douglas Memoir Reveals Secret Romances With Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn — And Corrects the Sharon Stone Rumor

Michael Douglas is finally telling the real story. In his new 2026 memoir One Helluva Ride, the Oscar winner confirms he and Kathleen Turner were secretly together during the 1984 filming of Romancing the Stone in Mexico, and that he denied it for four decades.“That was a lie. It was a lie meant to protect my wife and son, a lie we told the world for 40 years,”Douglas writes, referring to then-wife Diandra Luker and their son Cameron.

The book also flips one of Hollywood’s most persistent rumors on its head. Douglas reveals he actually dated Basic Instinct costar Jeanne Tripplehorn, not Sharon Stone, and was even ready to leave his marriage for her. That relationship ended when Diandra Luker visited the set with Cameron. Turner, for her part, kept her reaction famously brief:“Good heavens, what a fuss about something 40 years ago. I love Michael, and I look forward to enjoying the book.”

Through it all, Douglas’story lands in a surprisingly happy place. He met Catherine Zeta-Jones in 1998, married her in 2000, and the couple celebrated 25 years together in November 2025, surviving his 2010 cancer battle, her bipolar II treatment, and a brief separation in 2013.
