Michael Douglas’new memoir“One Helluva Ride”is pulling back the curtain on the 1987 film“Wall Street,”and the behind-the-scenes stories are darker than anyone expected. According to Douglas, Charlie Sheen taped a sign to co-star Sean Young’s back that read“Biggest c–t in the world.”Douglas removed the sign and told Young to forget about it, but a crew member told her what it said. Douglas writes that she had every right to be furious.
The tension didn’t stop there. Young clashed repeatedly with director Oliver Stone, who fired her on the spot during a horse stable scene after giving her only line to Daryl Hannah. Stone later said he wished he had fired both actresses, and most of Young’s scenes were cut from the final film. Douglas also notes that Stone’s storytelling has always centered men, even when his female leads delivered standout performances.
“One Helluva Ride”is out now, and it’s sparking a bigger conversation about how Hollywood treated women in the’80s. Where do you think the line is between a prank and outright bullying? Sound off in the comments.
