Michael Douglas Confirms Kathleen Turner Affair After 40 Years, and Her Response Is Priceless

For four decades, Kathleen Turner denied it. Now Michael Douglas has put it in print. In his upcoming memoir One Helluva Ride, the 82-year-old actor confirms that he and his Romancing the Stone co-star had an affair during filming, even though he was married to Diandra Luker at the time. Douglas writes that he and Luker were separated, that both were having extramarital relationships, and that he and Turner fell hard while keeping the romance hidden from everyone on set, including Danny DeVito.

Turner, 72, had hinted at a crush over the years but always stopped short of confirming anything, most recently in 2023. When People asked her about the revelation, she didn’t fight it.“Good heavens, what a fuss about something [that happened] 40 years ago!”she said, adding that she loves Michael and looks forward to enjoying the book. The reported ending to the affair was just as dramatic as the movie: Luker and son Cameron visited the set, Luker confronted Turner, and Douglas returned to his wife.

So what do we take from this? Old Hollywood secrets don’t stay buried, and sometimes the most graceful response is a shrug and a kind word. What’s your take: should decades-old relationships live in memoirs, or stay exactly where they were?
