Michael Douglas is telling his story on his own terms, which means his exes get a heads-up call. His cowriter Shane Salerno told People that Douglas personally reached out to Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn for permission before detailing their relationships in his new memoir,One Helluva Ride.

The book confirms what Hollywood has whispered about for four decades: Douglas and Turner fell for each other while filming 1984’sRomancing the Stone. He also writes about his affair withBasic Instinctcostar Tripplehorn during his marriage to Diandra Luker, saying he nearly left his wife for her.

Turner’s reaction to the whole revelation is as relaxed as it gets. She told People,“Good heavens, what a fuss about something 40 years ago!”And with Douglas married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000, it seems everyone has moved on. The internet, of course, has not. So what do you think: is calling your ex before publishing fair play, or overkill? Sound off below.
