Miami Dancer Says She Paid $250 to Work, Then Her Club Took $1,000 From Her Tips

A Miami dancer who goes by Meli has the internet talking after she posted a video accusing Klub 24 of charging her $250 just to work her shift, then pulling $1,000 out of her tip pile at the end of the night. According to Meli, it wasn’t a one-time thing either. She says it happened seven separate times, and she claims the club handed out free bottle service to guests while making dancers cover the cost.

Her frustration is pretty simple: why are y’all taking $1,000 out of the pile when I already paid $250 to work? Meli also says other dancers stay quiet because speaking up leads to getting fired or losing shifts, and she expects the same might happen to her after posting. There’s a legal piece here too. The US Department of Labor says employers can’t keep employee tips under the FLSA, and dancers have sued clubs over similar practices before, including a Florida case that ended with a $900,000 payout.

So the big question is whether Meli’s video is just a moment or the start of something much bigger for the nightlife industry. Should clubs be able to charge people to work and then take their tips? Sound off in the comments.
