A hitmaker with credits alongside Billy Joel, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande just built a boy band the hard way. Freddy Wexler auditioned more than 1,300 performers before choosing five guys for JYT, Just Your Type: Recker Eans, Toby Green, Caden Adamonis, Bryan Chan and Tyler George. The group moved to Los Angeles in July 2025 for nearly a year of training, bonding into what they call a family along the way.

Instead of chasing viral moments, JYT took an old-school route. They toured summer camps across New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, performing for over 15,000 campers in phone-free audiences. Those skeptical teens became fans, and they spread the word the way people did before group chats existed: they wrote letters.

Since dropping debut single“What U Want”in December 2025, JYT has released five singles on Wexler Records/Republic Records. Next up is the entire Jingle Ball tour this fall, plus a collaboration with Gap’s Fashiontainment platform, all while Wexler sets a goal of making them one of the greatest live acts in the world within five years.

Would you see a new band live before ever streaming their music? Tell us in the comments.
