MAZZEL has officially landed their first No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100.“Touch,”the title track of their fifth single released Oct. 21, debuted on top of the chart released Oct. 28 — and the win came from strength across the board rather than one giant number. The group ranked No. 3 in physical sales with 120,498 copies, but high marks in radio, downloads, video views, and streaming pushed them to the summit.

The sales race was a different story. Naniwa Danshi’s“Moonlit,”the theme song for member Shunsuke Michieda’s film“In the Clear Moonlit Dusk,”bowed at No. 2 with a whopping 407,879 copies sold, leading both sales and downloads. Lienel’s“Ai no Dabada”soared 38-3 with 358,532 copies, and EBiDAN’s“Yes! Tokyo”took No. 4 on the strength of video views. Meanwhile, Vaundy’s“Shiwaawase”held at No. 7 while topping streaming with 8,645,650 streams for the week.

The chart tallies the week of Oct. 19 to 25 and combines sales, streams, radio, video, and karaoke data — which is exactly why MAZZEL could win without the biggest sales figure. It was one of the busiest release weeks of the season, so listeners have plenty of fresh tracks to sort through. Which of this week’s top five is already on repeat for you?
