Mark Hamill is in the new“Carrie”series on Amazon Prime Video, and you almost certainly missed him. In episode six, he plays a fortune teller hidden behind a mustache, a beard, and one half-closed eye. The disguise is convincing enough that plenty of viewers watched the scene without realizing a Star Wars legend was standing right there.
Series creator Mike Flanagan told People that Hamill wanted to be involved but asked that nobody be told about it ahead of time. The two have worked together before on“The Fall of the House of Usher”and“Life of Chuck,”and Flanagan praised the actor’s energy on set. That secrecy paid off, since the reveal has become one of the most talked-about moments of the show’s run so far.
The series adapts Stephen King’s 1974 novel, with Summer Howell stepping into the title role. Flanagan has said this version departs from the Carrie White story audiences know, and King himself is on board with the new direction. New episodes are streaming now, which means there’s plenty of time to go back and rewatch episode six.
