Luke Grimes Says He Hasn't Spoken to Kevin Costner Since Leaving 'Yellowstone'

Two years after Kevin Costner walked away from“Yellowstone,”his former co-star Luke Grimes says they haven’t exchanged a single word. In a new interview, Grimes confirmed there’s been zero contact since Costner exited the show in 2024, but he made it clear there’s no bad blood involved.“We are both just busy guys and life moves on,”he said.

The timeline behind Costner’s exit has always been a little messy. His character John Dutton was killed off in the show’s fifth and final season, and co-creator Taylor Sheridan later revealed that Costner had wanted to leave after season three but was pressured by the network to stay for two more. Since then, Grimes has stepped into the spotlight with“Marshals,”a CBS spinoff following his character Kayce Dutton, and fans have been hoping for a Costner flashback ever since.

Grimes, however, isn’t holding his breath. He said there have been no conversations about Costner returning, and when asked who he’d rather see in a flashback, he picked Kayce’s wife Monica instead.
