LISA's "Always Lalisa" Documentary Premieres at TIFF: Everything We Learned

LISA is letting fans all the way in. Her new documentary“Always Lalisa”premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, and it covers way more ground than a typical concert film. Directed by Sue Kim, the movie follows LISA through her one-year break from BLACKPINK, documenting the launch of her solo career, her debut album, her own management company, her role in“The White Lotus,”and the road to her Coachella performance.

The film also pulls from the archives, tracing LISA’s journey from her childhood in Thailand to her trainee days at YG Entertainment and eventually to global stardom. Along the way, she gets vulnerable, addressing past leaked videos of her rapping a racial slur and saying she has learned from the moment and apologized. At the premiere she told the crowd,“It’s not easy to be me today,”adding that she tried to give everything because her life is the documentary.
