Lionel Messi is taking his talents from the pitch to the streaming world. The first teaser for Disney’s“Messi and the Giants”premiered at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain, drawing a crowd of more than 3,000 fans who got their first look at the show’s mythology and characters. The series follows 12-year-old Leo, trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants, who has to win soccer-style battles through skill and teamwork rather than superpowers. Argentine actor Milo Burgess-Webb voices the lead character.
The trailer also introduced the show’s theme song,“Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,”performed by Argentine chart-topper Luck Ra, who has become a fixture on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100. Messi executive produces the series alongside Sony Pictures Television, Sony Music Latin Iberia, and Sony Music Vision, with Dan Creteur directing for Atlantis Animation. It’s a full-circle crossover moment for sports, music, and animation fans alike.
“Messi and the Giants”premieres globally on Disney+ in summer 2027, with Disney Channel airing it in the U.S. after that. With Messi’s global reach and Luck Ra’s rising profile, this one has serious franchise potential. So, are you here for a Messi animated universe, or should he stick to the field?
