Lawton families have at least 12 trunk-or-treat events to choose from this October, and most of them are completely free. The season opens with the 7th Annual Park-O-Treat on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Elmer Thomas Park, hosted by Re/Max Professionals. From there, the calendar stays busy nearly every weekend with church, school, business, and nonprofit events across town.
One date worth circling is SouthWest Auto Group’s Fall Festival on Oct. 17, which features age-based costume contests and a $250 prize for the best family costume. First Baptist Church of Lawton hosts its annual trunk-or-treat Oct. 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Two events, Hokkaido’s and Marie Detty, both land on Friday, Oct. 30, and free Halloween-night options on Oct. 31 include Bethel Assembly of God and Family Promise of Lawton.
Because most events happen before Halloween, kids can load up at trunk-or-treats on the weekends and still go door-to-door in their own neighborhoods on the 31st. Trunk-or-treats grew in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic and have stuck around as a free, family-friendly way to celebrate the season. Which trunk-or-treat is your family hitting first this year?
