Holiday stress is showing up early this year, and two Lawton institutions are doing something about it before December gets a vote. Lawton Public Library and the Comanche County Health Department have partnered on Coping Through the Holidays, a free four-session series covering conflict resolution, stress management, grief and loss, plus the way social media shapes emotional health during the season. Anyone 14 and older is welcome.
Sessions run 6-7 p.m. at the main library at 110 SW Fourth on four dates: this Tuesday, Nov. 17, Dec. 1 and Dec. 15. Every meeting includes a drawing for a comfort item such as a weighted blanket or a light therapy lamp. Organizers say the goal is to bring the community together for support and to hand people resources before the toughest weeks of the year arrive.
If you know someone navigating loss, family tension or financial pressure this season, share this with them. The series is free, the library is easy to find, and an hour could change how the whole month feels. Which of the four topics do you think matters most for our community?
