Lawton families get a rare close-up look at city services next month. The inaugural Lawton Discovery Day runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Lawton Farmers Market, 77 SW Fourth Street, and admission is free.
Fire engines, police vehicles, ambulances, a LATS bus, solid waste equipment, and the Lawton Animal Welfare adoption trailer will all be on display for families to explore. Inside the market, city departments and community partners host hands-on activities covering stormwater and air quality, STEM projects with FISTA, and emergency preparedness information from Comanche County-Lawton Emergency Management.
Kids can pick up a passport at the event and collect stamps from each station for a chance to win a 2027 Lawton Aquatic Center family season pass. The event is presented by the City of Lawton in partnership with the Lawton Farmers Market, and it’s a good chance to meet the crews behind everyday city services.
