The Songwriters Hall of Fame has revealed its nominees for the Class of 2027, and the performing-songwriter category reads like a festival lineup. Lady Gaga, Shakira, P!nk, Sia, Jack White and Boy George are all on the ballot, competing for just three of the six available spots. Twenty-six nominees total are in the running, split evenly between performing and non-performing songwriters, which means the competition is as tight as it gets.
The non-performing side is stacked with names you know from the credits, not the stage. Stargate and Stock Aitken Waterman, two production teams responsible for some of the biggest pop hits in history, are nominated alongside Kandi Burruss, will.i.am, Dan Wilson and others. There’s also a piece of history on the line: eight members of WAR are nominated and could become the largest ensemble ever inducted, while Ne-Yo could become the second Starlight Award winner to earn full induction after Taylor Swift.
Voting members have until midnight ET on Dec. 14 to submit their ballots, and the Class of 2027 will be announced after that. With 26 nominees and only six spots, this year’s class will leave some serious talent on the table. Which three performing songwriters would get your vote?
