King Charles III has reportedly raised no objection to a Thanksgiving service marking thirty years since Princess Diana’s death next August, and the royal rumor mill says the goal is bigger than a memorial. Sources suggest the service could put Prince William and Prince Harry in the same room for the first time in years, echoing the 2007 event at Wellington Barracks Guards’Chapel where Diana’s favorite music played and Harry gave the eulogy. One insider even floated William giving a reading, calling it more dignified than another documentary airing the family’s business.

But the skeptics showed up fast. Royal journalist Tom Sykes told Page Six that a William and Harry reunion is“just not gonna happen,”and the timeline backs him up. The brothers attended the same event in 2024 and reportedly didn’t speak a word to each other. Harry moved back to the UK in August with Meghan Markle and their children, and still, no signs of a thaw. Harry has publicly said he’d love reconciliation, telling the world there’s no point fighting anymore because life is precious.

So now it’s a waiting game. Charles is reportedly trying to play peacemaker while dealing with his own cancer battle, and the August anniversary is less than a year away. A memorial for Diana could be a global moment of grace. It could also be a very awkward photo op. Either way, we’ll be watching.

Do you think a Diana anniversary service could actually bring William and Harry back together?
