Kim Kardashian Awarded 1 Euro for 2016 Paris Robbery — And That Was Her Idea

A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian one euro (about $1.15) on Tuesday for the 2016 armed robbery at the Hôtel de Pourtalès. The eye-catching detail? That was the exact amount she requested. Her lawyer confirmed the one-euro figure was Kardashian’s own call, made in a joint filing with stylist Simone Harouche, who was also present that night.

The robbery made global headlines back in October 2016. Two men dressed as police entered her room, bound her with zip ties and tape, and stole more than $6 million in jewelry, including a diamond ring she had worn to a Givenchy show. Eight people were convicted last year for their roles, among them six elderly suspects the French press nicknamed“les papys braqueurs”— the grandpa robbers. None returned to prison beyond time already served, and none appealed.

The compensation split is just as striking as the one-euro award. The hotel receptionist received €109,516 (about $126,472), the hotel was awarded €50,000, and both Kardashian and Harouche received one symbolic euro each. In a joint statement, the two said the decision was never about compensation, but about accountability and recognition, adding that the experience was deeply traumatic and its impact has stayed with them. What do you think — does a symbolic one euro say more than a seven-figure payout would?
