Kelly Clarkson vs. a Brooklyn Bird Puppet: Inside the $15,000 Feud Dividing the Internet

Kelly Clarkson walked into Brooklyn’s Art of Play, fell for a $15,000 mechanical bird puppet named Molly, and left without it. That should have been the end of the story. Instead, it became a viral feud. Clarkson says an employee was rude and lied to her about the item, comparing the moment to Pretty Woman. The store tells a different story: Molly is permanently mounted on their wall as a display, and they offered her a $2,000 German singing bird automaton instead. By the time they brought it out, she was gone.

Then came the social media fallout. Clarkson called the employee an“idiot”on X, and Art of Play says her fans flooded them with backlash. The store has since issued a statement trying to clear the air, saying they reached out to Clarkson directly and wish her the best. Her rep hasn’t commented, and Clarkson maintains the store was deceptive.

So was this a case of celebrity entitlement, a genuine customer service fail, or just two people having a really bad Tuesday? The store’s stuck in a spotlight it never asked for, Clarkson’s doubling down, and the internet can’t stop arguing about a bird puppet.

Who do you think handled this better: Clarkson or the store? Tell us in the comments.
