Kelly Clarkson vs. a $15,000 Singing Bird: Inside the Brooklyn Shop Feud Everyone's Talking About

Kelly Clarkson went shopping in Brooklyn and left with something way more expensive than a souvenir: a full-blown internet feud. The singer and talk show host stopped into Art of Play, a curiosity shop, and asked about a mechanical singing bird. The bird’s name is Molly. Molly is attached to the wall and not for sale. But the artist behind Molly, Bliss Kolb, owns a near-identical twin bird, and that one is available for $15,000. The shop says it also offered Clarkson a $2,000 German-made singing bird, but she left before anyone could show it to her.

Clarkson didn’t take the interaction lightly. She compared the experience to Pretty Woman, saying an employee offered to find her something“comparable,”then took to X and called the store“rude”and“a liar.”Art of Play responded with a second statement, saying it never intended any disrespect and that it has reached out to Clarkson directly to clear the air. The shop added that it hopes everyone can laugh about this someday.

So who’s right? That depends on which version of a five-minute shopping trip you believe. What’s clear is that a small Brooklyn business and one of pop’s biggest names are now stuck in a very public he-said-she-said over a decorative bird with a five-figure price tag. Would you spend $15,000 on a singing bird, or is that a hard pass?
