Kelly Clarkson Says She Loves AI in Music, But Wants It Off the Human Charts

Kelly Clarkson is not afraid of AI, and she wants everyone to know it. On the Las Culturistas podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, the Grammy winner said she loves AI and sees it as a welcome addition to music creation. Her exact energy?“Controversial? I don’t care: I love AI.”She thinks the whole debate has gotten way too black-and-white and that AI can be a genuinely fun tool for artists to play with.

That said, she’s not handing over the Hot 100. Clarkson said she takes issue when AI artists compete directly with humans on the same chart, and she floated a pretty clean solution: give AI music its own chart. The timing here is wild, because Billboard and Luminate just announced plans to label AI-generated content on their platforms, while AI music companies like Suno are facing copyright lawsuits over unlicensed training data.

So the industry is clearly still figuring out the rules, and now one of pop’s biggest voices has thrown her opinion into the ring. Is she right that AI deserves a seat at the table, just not on the same scoreboard? And would you actually stream an AI-made song if it was good?

What do you think: separate chart for AI, or let it compete with everyone else?
