The co-parenting tension between Ryan Lochte and his ex-wife Kayla Rae Reid just went very public. According to Us Weekly, Reid issued a statement accusing Lochte’s fiancée, Molly Gillihan, of repeatedly discussing her children and custody arrangement without permission. The spark? A recent Instagram Q&A where Gillihan said Lochte sees his three kids monthly. Reid says that’s inaccurate, explaining that the children spend one month with him in the summer and that holidays are split equally between the two households.

Reid didn’t hold back in her statement:“At some point, the obsession needs to end. I have moved on. I suggest everyone else do the same.”Lochte, a 12-time Olympic medalist, responded by saying he and Gillihan miss the kids and that he“can’t control the narrative that Kayla is and has created.”He also shared that he deleted a social media post at Gillihan’s request and referenced his 2016 mental health crisis, adding another layer to an already complicated family dynamic. Reid and Lochte, who share Caiden, Liv Rae, and Georgia June, finalized their divorce in July 2025.

The whole situation raises a question plenty of blended families face, just with way more followers watching: where’s the line between sharing your life online and dragging your kids’private business into the feed? Public comment sections don’t forget, and the kids eventually grow up and read them.

Do you think custody details should stay completely private, or is transparency fair game? Sound off in the comments.
