Journey’s Thursday night concert at the BOK Center in Tulsa took a turn nobody saw coming. Drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical emergency just two songs into the set and had to be helped off stage. He was taken to a local hospital, and the show was delayed about 20 minutes while the band figured out what to do next.

That’s when drum tech Steve Toomey stepped up, literally, taking over behind the kit so the concert could continue. Lead guitarist Neal Schon addressed the crowd, telling them to have their prayers ready for Castronovo, and dedicated the rest of the performance to him. Bassist Jonathan Cain also asked the audience to pray. Castronovo, 62, has been part of Journey across multiple stints since 1998 and also spent time in Bad English and Hardline.

The band hasn’t shared an update on his condition yet, and their Final Frontier North American tour is scheduled to continue October 10 in San Antonio, Texas. Fans everywhere are holding their breath and hoping for good news.
