Johnny Depp knows how to launch a movie. On Sunday night he hosted an invite-only screening of“Ebenezer”at The Whitby Hotel in NYC, with co-stars Andrea Riseborough and Tramell Tillman, director Ti West, and guests including Hayley Atwell, Kyle MacLachlan, and Patti Smith. Then he topped himself the next day by strolling through Bryant Park’s Christmas Market in full Ebenezer Scrooge costume, drawing hundreds of fans and a flood of viral videos.
The stunt lands just ahead of the film’s Nov. 13 theatrical release, and it’s already doing its job: everyone’s talking. Meanwhile, the rest of the NYC scene stayed busy. Teyana Taylor hosted a haunted motel-themed Halloween party at Beauty&Essex,“A Few Good Men”opened at Lincoln Center with Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Anna Wintour, and Rachel Zegler on hand, and Cynthia Erivo was honored at the American Ballet Theatre’s Fall Gala at the David H. Koch Theater.
So the question is simple: would you rather catch Depp in character at a Christmas market or score an invite to one of these after-parties? Tell us in the comments.
