Jeremy Strong is doubling down. The Succession star and Emmy winner appeared on the New Yorker Radio Hour Friday and addressed the long-running conversation about his intense method approach, saying he won’t apologize if his commitment made co-stars uncomfortable.“If some people feel that I’m taking it too seriously, or it changes the molecules in the room in a way that makes something uncomfortable, I guess that’s something that I don’t feel that I need to apologize for,”he said. He did clarify that it’s never his intention to interfere with anyone else’s experience on set.

The comments resurface a familiar debate. Brian Cox, Strong’s on-screen father on Succession, previously called his approach annoying and said he worried about what Strong does to himself. Strong says he isn’t offended by the criticism and isn’t planning to change his ways, offering his own philosophy:“First, do no harm, right? But commit to what you’re doing, and utterly.”

Next up, Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg in Social Reckoning, the Aaron Sorkin film hitting theaters October 9, alongside the story of Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen. It’s a role practically built for his all-in style, which means the press tour should be fascinating. So where do you land: is method acting worth the discomfort, or should sets prioritize comfort over commitment? Sound off in the comments.
