Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy spent the weekend where no parent wants to be: the hospital, with their three-year-old son, Rome. The Dancing With the Stars pros both shared updates on social media. Jenna posted an Instagram Story of Rome wearing an oxygen mask, and Val shared a photo of Jenna holding Rome in a hospital bed, captioning it“Sunday Funday as a parent.”Jenna later reassured followers that everything is fine and Rome is home sleeping.

For fans who’ve followed this family since Rome’s arrival, this weekend probably felt familiar in the worst way. It’s the third documented health scare for Rome in two years. In October 2025, the couple documented an ER visit for an unspecified issue, and in May 2024, Rome was treated for croup after struggling to breathe during a coughing attack, which required paramedics and an ambulance ride.

The couple hasn’t shared specifics about what led to this latest hospital trip, and that’s completely their call. What we do know is the ending is a happy one: Rome is home, resting, and doing okay. As any parent knows, that’s the only update that matters.
