Ahead of the‘Survivor’Season 51 premiere Wednesday night on CBS, the 64-year-old host and executive producer told The Hollywood Reporter he has no plans to leave the show that made him a reality TV legend.“I don’t see an end in sight right now,”he said.“I think the format is one of the greatest formats in TV.”He’s been hosting since the show debuted in 2000, which means he’s fronted more than 50 seasons of blindsides, hidden immunity idols, and tribal councils.
That said, Probst isn’t pretending he’ll do this forever. He told THR he doubts he’ll host 50 more seasons, joking that at some point he might be wheeled onto set in a chair. Back in June, he told The Wrap there’s a“small list”of people who could take over one day, and he revealed that one member of the Season 51 cast actually has the instincts to host the show. That’s a wild thought: go on‘Survivor,’get voted out, come back as the host.
