Jalen Brunson made history this weekend, becoming the first New York Knicks player ever to host“Saturday Night Live.”The Season 52 premiere opened with a monologue that compared the show to a Knicks Finals game: the first three-quarters would be god-awful, and the last sketch would be amazing. Knicks fans understood the assignment.
The monologue quickly turned into a team reunion. Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart all appeared to ask Brunson questions, with Towns joking about fouling out. Anunoby got the biggest reaction by bringing up Game 4 of the Finals, when Brunson missed a late shot that Anunoby tipped in. Only a teammate gets to bring that up on live television.
It’s the cherry on top of an absurd offseason for Brunson, who won the 2026 NBA title over the San Antonio Spurs, appeared at the Emmys, and guest-starred on“Law&Order: SVU.”Katseye were the musical guests for the night.
So what do you think: did the Knicks teammates make the monologue better, or should Brunson have gone solo?
