Issa Rae has officially become a three-time sports owner. The actress, producer, and entrepreneur invested in Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, as part of the league’s Series C funding round announced October 5, 2026. That round valued Unrivaled at $650 million and included fellow investors Carmelo Anthony, Coco Gauff, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Unrivaled is just one piece of Rae’s growing sports portfolio. She also holds a stake in the Los Angeles Orbit, a League One Volleyball team, and serves as a club partner in the San Diego FC MLS ownership group. Add it all up and Rae now has ownership in three different professional sports leagues across three different sports: basketball, volleyball, and soccer, all while developing a new HBO comedy pilot.
Her investment reflects a bigger shift happening across the sports world, where celebrities and athletes are putting real capital behind women’s leagues that are rapidly gaining visibility and value. Unrivaled’s $650 million valuation is proof that the market is paying attention. Rae said the league speaks to anyone who wants to set new standards, and her track record suggests she means it.
Which of Issa Rae’s three sports investments do you think has the biggest upside? Let us know in the comments.
