Influencers Accused of Posing on Ambulance Gurney While Patient Waited: "Peak Influencer Dystopia"

A viral video out of California has social media fired up after two influencers were caught on camera posing on an ambulance gurney while paramedics were preparing a patient for transport. The clip shows a man in a white outfit lounging on the stretcher, cigarette in hand, as his companion takes photos. A bystander eventually pushed the pair away so the crew could load the patient and leave.

The backlash came fast. A TikTok creator known as @Daadi pointed out that obstructing emergency responders could violate California Penal Code 148(a)(1), a misdemeanor carrying up to a $1,000 fine or a year in jail. Commenters piled on, with one viral response asking if we could replace the word“influencer”with something a lot less flattering. Others weren’t convinced the scene was even real, speculating that the whole thing might be staged for attention.

Either way, the reaction says something. People are tired of stunts that treat real emergencies as backdrops. The question now is whether anyone actually faces consequences, and whether that would change anything. What do you think: should viral stunts that interfere with first responders be prosecuted, or is the outrage punishment enough?
