Hilary Duff is officially part of the Dr. Seuss universe. The singer and actress released“CATastrophe”on Friday, October 2, an original song and music video for Warner Bros.’animated“The Cat in the Hat.”She co-wrote the track with husband Matthew Koma, Madison Love and Brian Phillips, with Koma and Phillips on production.
Lyrically, the song is about your entire world getting rearranged without your permission, delivered over a bright, upbeat pop sound. Duff has said Dr. Seuss books were a staple in her childhood home, which made the project an easy yes. The movie arrives in theaters and IMAX on November 6, with the soundtrack landing October 30 and Bill Hader voicing the Cat.
The track adds to a huge year for Duff.“Luck… Or Something”debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, her first album in more than a decade, and her Lucky Me tour has been extended through 2027. In November she’ll receive Billboard’s Outstanding Pop Tour of the Year award.
