Greenville Police announced Wednesday that Hayden Panettiere’s death has been ruled accidental, officially closing the investigation more than two months after she was found unresponsive at a home in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office determined the 36-year-old actress died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine.
In a statement, police said:“Based on the medical examiner’s determination and the findings of the investigation, Hayden Panettiere’s death has been ruled accidental.”Since her passing, a private memorial on September 19 brought together nearly 80 family members and friends, including Connie Britton, Evan Ross, and Ruby Rose. Britton, her former Nashville costar, said the room“all just bawled,”adding that she’s finding solace in the community of people who remain.
Wladimir Klitschko, Panettiere’s ex-partner and father of their 11-year-old daughter Kaya, has been granted temporary guardianship of the estate. The ruling closes a case that drew national attention and renewed conversations about fentanyl and the pressures of young fame. What’s the Hayden Panettiere performance you’ll always remember?
