Hayden Panettiere's Death Investigation Still Open After Coroner's Accident Ruling

The Greenville Police Department says its death investigation into Hayden Panettiere remains open and active, even after the county coroner ruled her death an accident. Panettiere was found unresponsive at a Greenville, South Carolina Airbnb on August 16, and a 911 call was placed that day. The coroner’s office determined she died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine, with naloxone and cotinine also detected in her toxicology results.

The confusion started when a redacted CAD report showed the incident marked as closed. According to police, that status only refers to the 911 call itself, not the larger investigation.“The actual investigation is still open,”a department spokesperson said.
