Hayden Christensen brought his 11-year-old daughter Briar Rose to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Opening Night in Los Angeles on Saturday, and it marked her first-ever red carpet appearance. The two held hands while posing for photos, with Briar Rose in a white dress and strappy flats and Christensen in a navy blazer, gray t-shirt, and dark jeans. It was a rare public moment for the famously private daughter of Christensen and ex-fiancée Rachel Bilson.
The event had a sweet full-circle feel, since George Lucas, who co-founded the museum with wife Mellody Hobson, directed Christensen in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Speaking to reporters, Christensen called the night“really special”and a“real treat”to share with his daughter. Asked about watching her dad on screen as Darth Vader, Briar Rose kept it simple:“It was really cool when I saw him up there.”
Christensen and Bilson, both 45, met on the set of 2008’s Jumper, got engaged in 2009, and welcomed Briar Rose in October 2014 before splitting for good in 2017. Since then, they’ve kept things notably amicable, and this weekend was proof. Nothing messy, nothing dramatic, just a dad and his kid at a museum.
