Halle Berry’s 18-year-old daughter Nahla Aubry has stepped into her mom’s custody battle in a big way. In a declaration filed October 7, Nahla said she has never seen her mother hit, slap, choke, or physically abuse her 13-year-old brother Maceo. She described Berry as loving but strict, a rare public statement from a daughter who has stayed out of the spotlight her whole life.
The filing comes after Olivier Martinez, Berry’s ex-husband and Maceo’s father, claimed Berry choked their son during a virtual reality game incident. Martinez was granted a temporary restraining order, and Berry’s visitation was modified. Berry filed her own declaration on October 5 denying all abuse claims, saying she is a domestic violence victim who helps other victims. She completed a court-ordered parenting class on October 6.
The next court hearing is set for October 16, and with Nahla now on the record, this case has everyone’s attention. What’s your take: should kids be allowed to speak up in their parents’custody battles? Sound off in the comments.
