Halle Berry was photographed out in Los Angeles on Sunday with her 12-year-old son Maceo and fiancé Van Hunt, just days after ex-husband Oliver Martinez filed a restraining order accusing her of choking their son during a September 26 altercation allegedly over a virtual reality game. The outing, which included stops at Sky Zone and Best Buy, marked Berry’s first public appearance since the filing made headlines.
Martinez’s court documents also allege Berry has an alcohol abuse problem and makes racially charged statements about him. A judge temporarily granted him sole custody, while Berry was given visitation two days a week and every other weekend until an October 16 hearing. Berry’s attorney Marina Beck denied the claims as“outrageous,”pointing to what she describes as voluminous evidence that Martinez repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with their son’s therapeutic and educational needs. Berry and Martinez were married from 2013 to 2016 and settled a contentious custody battle in August 2023.
Berry’s team says she is deeply saddened by the allegations but remains focused on fighting for Maceo’s best interests. With a hearing date set and both sides lawyering up, this story is far from finished. What do you think about how celebrity custody disputes play out in the public eye? Sound off in the comments.
