From Prison Bars to Courtroom: Jelly Roll's Ex Takes Plea Deal in Drug Case

The cycle of addiction that once bound Jelly Roll and Felicia Beckwith together has come full circle — this time in a Washington County courtroom where Beckwith faced the legal consequences of choices made long after the country star had turned his life around.

On June 18, Beckwith, 37, pleaded guilty to possession of less than 0.5 grams of fentanyl, a schedule II drug. All other charges stemming from her February 2025 arrest were dropped, and she was sentenced to three years supervised probation. The plea deal marks the resolution of a case that began when law enforcement pulled over a vehicle containing Beckwith and two other individuals, ultimately uncovering a stash that included 52 grams of methamphetamine, pills, and 12 grams of suspected fentanyl. A search warrant executed at an associated residence revealed hundreds of grams of drugs, multiple loaded handguns, and scales — the kind of operation that signals serious criminal intent.

What makes this story resonate beyond the typical celebrity scandal is the deeper narrative: Jelly Roll and Beckwith share history that mirrors the darker chapters of his memoir. They dated before his rise to stardom, and both struggled with substance abuse. Beckwith gave birth to their daughter, Bailee, while Jelly Roll was incarcerated. That moment — learning he was a father from behind bars — became the catalyst for his transformation. As he recalled in a 2023 Billboard interview, Bailee’s arrival gave him a reason to change that nothing else had:“I’ve never had nothing in life that urged me in the moment to know that I had to do something different.”

The contrast is stark. Jelly Roll fought through the court system to secure custody of Bailee (ultimately granted in 2017 with his then-wife Bunnie Xo) and has spent years rebuilding trust with his daughter. Now 18, Bailee graduated high school and has a father who’s become a platinum-selling artist and cultural voice for redemption. Beckwith, meanwhile, finds herself navigating the same legal system that once held Jelly Roll, facing the consequences of the addiction that the singer managed to escape.

In his 2023 documentary Jelly Roll: Save Me, the artist was candid about the guilt:“She made me go to court to even see [my daughter]. I barely got to see her in the early years because I was traveling so much. I was a very less-than-present father.”He’s spent the better part of a decade making amends for those lost years. Beckwith’s guilty plea and probation sentence suggest she’ll have time to reflect on her own path forward — whether that leads toward recovery or further down the road she’s been traveling remains to be seen.
