Frankie Muniz has a new trophy to add to the shelf. The former Malcolm in the Middle star just won the GT4 America Championship, and his 5-year-old son Mauz was his biggest cheerleader in the stands. But that doesn’t mean Mauz is following dad into the driver’s seat. Muniz told Us Weekly that his wife, Paige Price, has ruled that out for now:“Mom says no to him being a race car driver. Otherwise, he’d be in a go-kart. But we’ll see when he gets a little older.”

Instead, Mauz is trying a little of everything, including soccer, football, baseball and golf. Muniz said he went back to racing partly to inspire his son, and the championship win, with Mauz cheering him on, delivered that moment perfectly.

Next on the calendar: the Ford Proud to Honor Veterans Day Classic at Daytona International Speedway on November 11. The race airs on USA Network at 8 p.m. and streams on Fandango, with a Zac Brown Band concert closing out the night. The cause hits close to home for Muniz, whose grandfather served in the Navy during World War II and whose father served in the Navy and Air Force for more than 20 years. If your kid wanted to race cars, would you say yes or let mom make the call?
