Flower Shop Debunks Taylor Swift's Alleged Lily Buying Spree

Someone’s been spinning fairy tales about Taylor Swift’s wedding prep, and the florists of New York aren’t buying it.

A rumor has been circulating that Taylor Swift single-handedly cleared every calla lily from New York City in preparation for her July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden with Travis Kelce. The claim? A staggering 42,000 flowers. Sounds dramatic, right? It absolutely is—and it’s also completely false.

When we reached out to well-known florists across the NYC area, the response was nearly universal: total BS. Not one shop had heard the rumor, and more importantly, every single florist we contacted had calla lilies in stock. One shop even visited the New York Flower Market this morning and confirmed there were plenty of blooms available for local businesses. The dream account of supplying flowers for Taylor’s big day? Unfortunately for these small business owners, it’s staying a dream. One shop owner found the idea laughable, noting that Swift would definitely arrange for her flowers to be delivered directly to Madison Square Garden rather than source from a local shop.

The wedding itself is shaping up to be an intimate (well, relatively speaking) affair. Between 1,100 and 1,200 guests will gather at MSG to celebrate the couple becoming husband and wife—or to witness an already-completed ceremony. Taylor and Travis have gone to extraordinary lengths to maintain privacy: invitations were sent via text rather than traditional mail, and every guest has signed strict NDAs. It’s the kind of secrecy that breeds wild rumors, and apparently, the calla lily story was one that stuck around long enough to warrant a fact-check.

So while Taylor may indeed be putting the garden in Madison Square Garden with elaborate floral displays, New York’s florists can rest easy knowing their inventory is safe. The calla lily shortage that wasn’t is now officially debunked.
