FKA twigs has settled her long-running lawsuit with Shia LaBeouf, and the most important detail isn’t the settlement itself. It’s that she is no longer bound by a non-disclosure agreement. According to a Monday filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, told the court the case was resolved after LaBeouf agreed to void the NDA, and she asked for the case to be dismissed entirely.
The history here is long. The two met on the set of Honey Boy and dated from 2018 to 2019. Barnett sued in 2020, alleging sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. A 2024 settlement had left her bound by the NDA, and she challenged that agreement again this past March. LaBeouf’s attorney Shawn Holley said he wishes her the best and agreed to end their dispute.
The bigger picture is about more than two names in a headline. NDAs have been used for years to keep abuse claims out of public view, and California law has been shifting to limit agreements that silence those claims. As her attorney Mathew Rosengart put it, she stood up for something larger than herself: female survivors of sexual abuse. Now she’s free to discuss her experience and advocate for others. Do you think NDAs should be able to cover abuse allegations at all? Sound off in the comments.
