The FBI has confirmed it will support Philippine authorities investigating allegations against Thomas Markle Sr., Meghan Markle’s estranged father, and will also examine any related U.S. federal violations. The probe follows claims by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., that he found child sex abuse material in his father’s Cebu home and reported him. Thomas Sr., 82, denies the allegations, calling them“sick lies.”

Meghan Markle says she was told in 2018 about“troubling and disturbing allegations”regarding her father, and the Metropolitan Police is now reviewing claims that its officers passed a 2018 letter to her. The Sun reported that the letter accused Thomas Sr. of sexually assaulting a child. Family members are giving conflicting accounts, with Samantha Markle also denying the claims.

The case pulls together a royal family rift, serious criminal allegations, and questions about how earlier warnings were handled on both sides of the world. Thomas Jr. says his hope is that justice is fully served and that the safety and protection of innocent children remains the priority.

What do you think about how the 2018 warnings were handled? Sound off in the comments.
