And the Television Academy’s 2026 transparency report offers the clearest explanation yet: 67% of members are white, 9.2% are Black, and 7% are biracial or multiracial. That’s the group casting the votes. Until that membership shifts, expect this cycle to repeat every awards season, along with the same debate over whether Black creators should keep investing in institutions that consistently overlook them.
