Emily Osment is opening up about her time on“Young Sheldon”in a new book by Jessica Radloff, and her story about intimacy coordinators is getting a lot of attention. Osment, 34, asked producer Tim Marx for a coordinator before kissing scenes with Montana Jordan, who was 23 at the time. Her reasoning was simple: the age gap made her uncomfortable. She described Jordan as“a baby with a mullet.”

A coordinator wasn’t available for the first scene, but as Mandy and Georgie’s relationship grew, one was brought in for later episodes. Osment said having that support made everything easier. Director Alex Reid admitted the production“totally dropped the ball”by not having one in place from the start, while co-creator Steve Molaro said Osment had every right to ask.

The conversation matters beyond this one show. Intimacy coordinators are becoming more common in TV and film, and this story shows why actors feel safer having that support. Mandy and Georgie’s relationship ended up getting its own spinoff,“Georgie&Mandy’s First Marriage,”so the onscreen chemistry clearly worked. Do you think intimacy coordinators should be a standard on every set? Let us know in the comments.
