Dwayne Johnson has played his share of larger-than-life characters, but his latest role is hiding the largest thing about him: that famous face. Photos from the Coney Island set of“Lizard Music”show the 54-year-old star buried under gray facial hair, prosthetics, and a tan trench coat with a floppy hat, blue shirt, tie, and sneakers. He reportedly wore 22 prosthetics and added more than 30 pounds for the part.
The scene itself sounds like a fever dream in the best way. Johnson filmed outdoors alongside child actor Theo Clark Leber, with both carrying pizza slices while Leber also held a large green lizard plushy. Directed by Benny Safdie, the film follows a boy’s friendship with a peculiar man who owns an elderly chicken, and the supporting cast includes Rachel McAdams, Colman Domingo, and Jeff Goldblum. It’s scheduled to arrive in theaters next year.
Johnson’s transformation continues a pattern of extreme physical commitments for his roles, and it’s already sparking conversation online. What other actor would you love to see vanish into a role like this?
