DIIV is back and they are pulling out all the stops for their new album ZIRP! out October 30. The band announced the record in the most 2026 way possible: fans received mysterious business cards in the mail with a QR code that leads to a telemarketing hotline. When you call it, you hear a message calling the album“the future of alternative multimedia entertainment.”It’s weird, it’s creative, and it’s working.
The big news here is the producer. A. G. Cook, the PC Music founder who produced Charli xcx’s Brat and scored A24’s The Moment, is behind the boards. The band is calling ZIRP!“the new alternative: a new genre for the 21st century.”Following 2024’s Frog in Boiling Water and last year’s single“Return of Youth,”this feels like a major sonic shift.
Frontman Zachary Cole Smith has had a heavy year. He lost his home in the January LA wildfires and welcomed a second child. So this album is coming from a place of real personal transformation. Pre-saves are live now. Are you excited to hear what DIIV and A. G. Cook sound like together?
