Dakota Cohen Wins The Voice Blind Audition With Black Sabbath's "Changes," Thanks to an Old Adam Levine Thumbs-Up

Monday’s Season 30 Blind Auditions on The Voice delivered a moment that had coaches and viewers talking. Dakota Cohen, 25, took the stage with Black Sabbath’s 1972 ballad“Changes,”and both Adam Levine and Riley Green turned their chairs. Queen Latifah, who wasn’t in the running, called the performance“astounding”and“insane,”while Levine said the song choice alone sold him before Cohen even sang a note.

The twist came when Cohen revealed why she picked Team Adam. Years earlier, she sang Maroon 5’s“Sunday Morning”at a restaurant, and Levine happened to be there and gave her a thumbs-up. That small gesture stuck with her, and on Monday night it helped decide her entire Voice journey. Levine also compared her voice to Miley Cyrus and pitched hard, telling her he believed the show was her home.

The audition carried extra weight given the timing. Ozzy Osbourne died in July 2025 at age 76, weeks after Black Sabbath’s farewell concert, and“Changes”found a new generation of listeners afterward, debuting at No. 42 on Billboard’s Hot Rock&Alternative Songs chart. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
