Dairy Queen locations across Texas are serving up something a little different this October. The Enchanted OREO Blizzard is the Blizzard of the Month, and it blends OREO cookie pieces with ube flavor in soft serve, finished with a purple shimmer topping. If ube isn’t a word you’ve run into before, it’s a purple yam used in Filipino desserts, pronounced“OO-beh.”Picture a sweet, slightly nutty flavor that plays well with cookies and cream.
The Enchanted OREO is part of the Fall Blizzard Collection, which also includes the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard and the returning Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’Council, says the new treat gives DQ fans across Texas a delicious way to celebrate the season. Dairy Queen has been serving Texans for more than 79 years, and limited-time flavors like this one tend to move fast.
The catch is the calendar. The Enchanted OREO Blizzard is only available at participating Texas locations through the end of October. It’s a solid stop whether you’re heading out to the Wichita Mountains for the weekend or grabbing dessert after a Friday night football game.
Have you tried the Enchanted OREO Blizzard yet? Let us know what you think of ube.
